Bayan Ko, Where Are You?(A Teach-In on the Pilipino Diaspora and Human Rights in the Philippines)

Coinciding with the 48th anniversary commemoration of Martial Law in the Philippines, the aim for BAYAN KO is to educate the new generation, especially Pilipinos in the global diaspora, about the impact and continued implications of the US-sanctioned Marcos dictatorship and on the state of human rights abuse in the Philippines. Our end goal is not only to broaden the audience's social conscience but to incite them to action in hopes they can mobilize others to support the cause, if only to speak up and educate others.

Think Before You Link: How You Can Fight Misinformation Online

I'll be hosting this workshop on how to fight misinformation online on Monday, June 8, at 12 p.m. Eastern.

This will be the first workshop type of event we've done. Depending on how this goes, the plan is to turn this into a full course. So this first one will be an overview with a fake news expert and a conversation with one of our reporters who covers misinformation.

Register for the virtual event in the link below: (it's free for members - you can join for free

In this age of COVID-19, accurate information can be hard to come by while fake news and misinformation spread like wildfire. The consequences of this harmful viral content can mean the difference between life and death.

In this one-hour workshop, HuffPost will talk to Maarten Schenk, co-founder of Lead Stories, a website devoted to debunking the latest false, deceptive or inaccurate articles making the rounds on the internet.

Senior enterprise editor Kate Sheppard will moderate a conversation with Schenk and HuffPost reporter Jesselyn Cook on covering and uncovering misinformation and fake news.

Attendees will learn the basics of identifying inaccurate information and debunking it, and how to find good sources.
